"Gendai America Kiso Koza" (Basic Courses on Contemporary America) is a series of monthly programs for Japanese students hosted by the U.S. Embassy Information Resource Center. A list of the past courses is available here.

Speakers are mainly U.S. Embassy officers and American specialists in fields such as U.S. government, presidential elections, East Asian security, university education, ethnic diversity, gender issues, volunteerism, and human rights.
